The Lower Moreland Police Department announced today the arrest of Allen Carter, 41, for fleeing police, drug possession, and tampering with evidence, among other charges.
According to the announcement, officers were on patrol in the area of Huntingdon Pike and Welsh Road in Huntingdon Valley on Friday, March 15 at approximately 10:00pm when they observed a silver sedan stopped within the crosswalk in the center lane while the light was green.
Police said the vehicle had inoperable taillights and an expired registration which was registered to a different vehicle. Officers initiated a traffic stop and attempted to approach the vehicle, but the driver fled into a neighboring township.
Officers did not pursue but saw two individuals within the vehicle, one of whom discarded an object out of the window. Drugs were located on the ground nearby, police said.
With the assistance of a neighboring township, officers were able to identify Carter and obtain an arrest warrant.
Carter turned himself in on Thursday, September 27. His charges are below:
