Shane Cohen, a 2019 graduate of Lower Moreland High School and a graduate student at the University of Virginia, ran a personal best time of 1:44.92 on Friday, June 28 to advance to the finals of the U.S. Olympic Track & Field trials men’s 800m.

Cohen, the 2024 NCAA champ in the 800, will have a chance to make the Olympic team today after advancing to the semifinals on Thursday. He ran the majority of Friday’s race from the back of the pack before surging to the front in the final 100 meters, sprinting from seventh to third place at the finish line.
