Lookout and getaway driver from Abington Township home invasion robbery sentenced 4-15 years

Ek Franklin Davis was sentenced to 4 to 15 years in prison for acting as the lookout and getaway driver during a home invasion robbery the 1800 block of Horace Avenue in Abington Township on September 23, 2024, The Reporter said.

Davis, 51, of Trenton, pleaded guilty to robbery and burglary. He was responsible for identifying the victim and following her home from the Parx Casino in Bensalem, prosecutors said. Camera surveillance footage depicted Davis on the casino floor behind the victim.

On August 4, Davis’ co-conspirator Khabir Shepard was sentenced to 10 to 20 years in prison for forcing his way into an Abington Township woman’s home by gunpoint, assaulting her, and attempting to steal her purse.

Shepard pleaded guilty to felony charges of robbery, burglary and person not to possess a firearm in connection with the home invasion robbery.

An investigation began after a female victim/resident told police that an unknown male, later identified as Shepard, had entered her home and attempted to steal her purse after she had recently returned from a local casino.

According to the victim, Shepard pointed a gun at her and forced his way into the home. He then pushed the victim to the ground and grabbed her purse from the dining room table. She screamed for help from her adult son, who was asleep in a rear bedroom. The son retrieved a legally owned firearm, and, upon seeing Shepard’s firearm, fired two shots.

Shepard was struck in the back and arm and ran to the home’s front lawn where he collapsed. Police soon arrived and took him into custody.

Police said a handgun was recovered from the front of the home and is believed to be the firearm Shepard pointed inside the home. Further investigation revealed that the victim was followed home by Shepard after she exited a local casino.

Subsequent to his arrest, Shepard was taken to a local hospital where he was treated and released.
