FOX29 recently shared police body cam footage from Monday’s home invasion in Abington Township, during which the son of a victim fired two shots at Khabir Shepard after he forced his way into the home by gunpoint, assaulted the mother, and attempted to steal her purse.
Shepard was arrested the following day. He was charged with numerous offenses, including Robbery, Aggravated Assault, Burglary and Carrying a Firearm Without a License.
“Everybody put your hands up, let me see your hands!” an officer says in the video.
A neighbor, Ellison James, and Abington Police Chief Patrick Molloy were interviewed in the segment.
“It becomes controversial when people see citizens using force, but in this case it was completely justified,” Chief Molloy told FOX29, “He would’ve gotten out of the area and could be committing these crimes again today had it not been for the homeowner being able to take him down and the officers showing up very quickly.”
