Chef Jay Howard, owner of J’s GourAmaze Fine Foods and Baked Goods in Elkins Park, will be reopening to the public at 3:00pm on Thursday, October 10 with two new arms of his business called “Treat Street” and “Amuseum”.
Themed “Munchies, Merriment, and Magic”, 7905 High School Road will now be three stores in one.
Howard’s famous baked goods will be complemented by boardwalk and carnival fun foods like funnel cake and corn dogs, funny jokes and novelty items, magic tricks, and rare old-fashioned candies and treats as well.
In November 2023, Howard announced that his storefront would temporarily function solely as a “prep kitchen and commissary” as he turned his attention to indoor, off-premises events, catering, and fundraising programs.
“I want to bring back these items to a world that I feel desperately needs more laughter and magic,” Howard said.
Howard, former owner of Wanderland Magic and Costumes on Bustleton Avenue in Northeast Philly from 1979-2004, intends to open the retail shop on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 3:00pm – 8:00pm for the time being.
