Jenkintown’s Pizza Wheel: more than just another slice shop

Pizza Wheel, a BYOB that leans Italian, rolled into Jenkintown in September.

They offer brick oven pizza, but their entrees, pastas, sandwiches and homemade ingredients are what makes co-owner Dan Katz see Pizza Wheel as more than just another slice shop.

“Everything’s homemade from sauces to dressings. We get everything fresh, including our pastas. We’re trying to get the word out that you’re not just coming for a pie,” Dan, who owns and operates the restaurant with his wife, Chelsea, said.

Pizza Wheel’s kitchen is headed up by L. Falcone and Matt Amendola, and their lunch specials have been cheekily named after Philly sports teams.

“I have a couple amazing chefs. Our management team, Martel McCrea, Molly Meyer, and Bri Robinson, is wonderful as well,” Dan said.

Lunch specials are offered Monday through Friday from 11am to 3:00pm, in-house or takeout. Dinner specials include Wednesday night’s half-price on all in-house pizzas and a Happy Hour from 4:00-7:00pm. Sundays roll out the red carpet with an all-you-can-eat pasta night from 4:00-8:00pm.

The restaurant’s ambiance has been a surprise hit with customers as well.

“People are surprised by how beautiful it is inside. We do holiday catering and our restaurant has over 100 seats. My wife totally overhauled the restaurant’s decor. It’s gorgeous in there,” Dan said.

For customer ease, the restaurant lays claim to its own parking lot plus overflow after 5:00pm.

If you’re feeling saucy, stop by Pizza Wheel on 314 York Road, open from 11:00am to 9:00pm every day of the week except Tuesday.
