Dr. Friederike Baer, a resident of Jenkintown and a professor of history at Penn State Abington, has been featured in a new PBS documentary titled “The American Revolution”.
The six-part, 12-hour television miniseries premiered on Sunday, November 16 and explores the war and the birth of the United States, following the stories of historical figures from diverse backgrounds. Ken Burns, who produced the series, is an Emmy Award-winning documentarian.
From the description on PBS.org:
Thirteen American colonies unite in rebellion, win an eight-year war to secure their independence, and establish a new form of government that would inspire democratic movements at home and around the globe. What begins as a political clash between colonists and the British government grows into a bloody struggle that will engage more than two dozen nations and forever change the world.
Dr. Baer and two other scholars on the subject took part in a panel discussion about the historical events from the film as part of a pre-release screening on Abington’s campus last week. Kenny Cooper, a Cheltenham High School graduate and reporter for WHYY, also took part in the discussion.
