Jenkintown grad struck in hit-and-run incident, GoFundMe launched

Kelsey Rice, a graduate of Jenkintown High School, was struck by an unidentified white pick-up truck on Sunday, August 13 at 7:45am while walking her dog in the Kensington section of Philadelphia.

Philadelphia police have released a video of the incident as they search for the vehicle below and its driver:


According to 6ABC, Rice jumped in front of her dog Crow to protect him.

“He hit my right side, and then I fell to the ground, and then he rode over my legs,” she said.

She was rushed to the hospital in critical condition where she had surgery on her right broken ankle. 6ABC’s video coverage can be viewed below:

Her brother James has organized a GoFundMe on her behalf. According to the description, Rice “sustained a fractured right tibia and right mallelous. She has injury to her ligaments to her left lower leg.”
