Jenkintown Council Member Rick Bunker to Resign

Jenkintown Council’s proposed meeting agenda for this Wednesday makes the rumored resignation of Rick Bunker official. See that agenda here.

Bunker, who has become something of a lightning rod for Council, is its Vice-President and one of four Jenkintown officials named in a Federal civil rights lawsuit now making its way through court. These officials and the borough government allegedly weaponized the zoning code against a resident who had mounted a write-in campaign for mayor.

The other three officials named in the suit are Sean P. Kilkenny, Borough Solicitor; George Locke, Borough Manager; and Deborra Sines-Pancoe, Borough Council President.

Bunker’s temperament on social media also invited the scorn of many Jenkintown citizens. While his own public Facebook timeline frequently excoriated President Trump for his social media bullying, the self-described “lefty-liberal” often brought the same tactics to bear upon Jenkintown residents.

Sources tell us that before his appearance at last week’s Public Safety Committee meeting, Mr. Bunker got into an argument at Borough Hall with Council President Deborra Sines-Pancoe and left in a huff.

No word yet on the cause of that argument.
