Jenkintown Community Alliance launches new business directory, prepares for annual Festival of the Arts

The Jenkintown Community Alliance (JCA), a nonprofit dedicated to community programming and economic development in the Borough of Jenkintown, has announced several initiatives this month, including the launch of a new business directory and ongoing preparations for its signature event, the annual Festival of the Arts.

New Business Directory Now Live on Jenkintown.net

As part of its commitment to supporting the local economy, the JCA has introduced a newly redesigned website—www.jenkintown.net—featuring a searchable business directory. This tool is intended to serve as a central hub for residents and visitors alike to discover local shops, restaurants, and service providers. Businesses can submit their information for inclusion through an online form.

“We heard from both residents and business owners that there was a real need for something like this,” said Ben Bergman, Executive Director of the JCA. “It’s a simple tool, but it makes it easier for people to shop local and for businesses to be found.”

The JCA plans to highlight participating businesses regularly on its social media channels, offering them additional visibility within the community. Interested businesses can join the directory by submitting their details here: Business Directory Submission.

Festival of the Arts Returns on September 21

The JCA’s largest annual event, the Jenkintown Festival of the Arts, is scheduled to take place on Sunday, September 21, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the heart of Jenkintown. The festival features juried visual art, live music, food vendors, merchant booths, and family-friendly programming.

Applications are currently open in the following categories:

  • Juried visual artists
  • Makers and craftspeople
  • Food and beverage vendors
  • Local merchants
  • Nonprofit organizations

“Every year, we try to build on what worked the year before and offer a diverse, inclusive event that reflects the creativity and energy of this community,” said Bergman. “We’re expecting a strong response this year.”

Application information can be found here: Arts Fest Application. Space is limited and early submissions are encouraged.

Program Book to Celebrate Young Artists and Promote Local Business

A new feature of this year’s festival is the creation of a full-color printed program book, which will be distributed free to all attendees. The booklet will include a festival map, artist profiles, business listings, and a dedicated section spotlighting student artists from the Jenkintown School District.

The JCA is also holding a student cover art contest, with cash prizes for finalists and the winning design featured on the front cover.

“This is more than just a guide to the event—it’s a platform to spotlight young artists in our community,” said Bergman. “We wanted to give students the chance to be seen and celebrated alongside professional artists. Their work deserves that recognition.”

The program book is also a major opportunity for local businesses. By purchasing advertising space or becoming a sponsor, businesses can not only help underwrite the cost of printing but also place themselves directly in front of thousands of festivalgoers and neighbors. It’s a tangible way to support the community while reaching new and returning customers.

“We want the book to be something people take home and keep,” Bergman added. “It’s a celebration of the arts and a great way to tell the story of Jenkintown’s local businesses.”
