The Cheltenham Police Department announced this afternoon that a person armed with a knife in the 100 block of Webster Avenue has been taken into custody.

According to the report, the individual was “experiencing a presumed mental health crisis”. Officers were able to de-escalate the situation and transported the person to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation.

No injuries were reported, and there is no danger to the public at this time, police said.
