Mrs. Betty Dando, a former Cheltenham High School health and physical education teacher and swim coach, retired as chair of the Men’s and Women’s Physical Education Department.

A graduate of Girls High School in Philadelphia and Ursinus College, Mrs Dando taught at Cheltenham High from 1965 to 1982. Her youngest daughter Susan Weed was a classmate of local historian Chuck Langerman (1973).

Her other children, also Cheltenham High graduates, include Anne Oldfield (1966), Barbara Dando (1968), and Bill Dando (1977).

Every year at graduation, the “Betty Dando Outstanding Service Award” is presented to a deserving senior.
