Kassidi Marie James, 18, of Hatboro, has petitioned Montgomery County Court to decertify her case to juvenile court, The Pottstown Mercury reported.
According to their coverage, James is accused of setting up a robbery and assault by luring a male to Lukens Park in Horsham on July 6, 2025, where he was attacked at gunpoint by two other males.
James faces charges of robbery, aggravated and simple assault, conspiracy, recklessly endangering another person, and receiving stolen property. Offenders are considered “adjudicated delinquent” if the charges are proven in juvenile court. She was 17 at the time of the alleged incident and was charged as an adult because of the violent nature of the alleged crime, The Mercury said.
Her request may receive a response during a decertification hearing next month.
The investigation began when Horsham Township police received a report that a male was robbed of his cellphone and vehicle by three other males at the playground at Lukens Park. Detectives located the victim’s abandoned vehicle and shoes, which were located on the path where he ran away from the three males. His phone and car keys were not found, The Mercury said.
The victim told police that James messaged him on Instagram on July 6 and indicated she wanted to “hang out.” The victim picked up James who suggested they go to Lukens Park to smoke marijuana.
After arriving at the park James allegedly told the victim she did not like smoking in cars and suggested they walk on the trail in the park. The victim said they walked for a few minutes before he was hunted down by three males who were hiding in the bushes. Two armed males then began to strike him with their guns while the third male struck and kicked him before taking his phone and car keys.
James did not try to intervene or call for help, the victim alleged.
During the investigation, detectives obtained a warrant to search James’ cellphone and uncovered messages she had with Ethan Justin Marquis, 18, of Horsham, and Shawn Robinson Jr., 19, of Dresher (Upper Dublin Township).
During a search of James’ cellphone, detectives found messages she exchanged with Marquis and Robinson on July 6. Detectives alleged the conversations show that James, Marquis, Robinson, and possibly another unidentified individual conspired to get the victim to the park to commit robbery and assault.
Marquis is awaiting trial on robbery and assault-related charges in connection with the alleged incident. Robinson was charged with robbery and assault offenses. He is still awaiting a preliminary hearing on the charges, The Mercury said.
