The Hatboro Police Department is encouraging area residents to be aware of scammers pretending to be law enforcement officers and/or staff.
According to their announcement, reports suggest that the actors are contacting individuals by phone and attempting to obtain personal information and/or money. If you receive a call from someone claiming to be a law enforcement officer, you can contact the Hatboro police (215-675-2832) to confirm the authenticity of the call.
“Remember, it is essential to verify the identity of the caller before providing any personal information or taking any action,” the announcement said. “Legitimate law enforcement officers will never ask for sensitive information or demand payment over the phone.”
