Hampton Road Burglaries Tied to Huntingdon Valley Weekend Burglaries in : UPDATE

Last week Glenside Local reported the Abington Township Police Department notified residents of  two burglaries that occurred in the 1400 block of Hampton Road at the end of September.  Glenside Local SThe Lower Moreland Police Department  are now investigating two similar incidents which occurred Saturday, October 6, in the Huntingdon Valley section of Upper Moreland Township.

Botht the the Abington and the Lower Moreland incidents occured on the weekend during overnight hours, and the men are believed to be white males. According to Lower Moreland Police Detectives a woman heard someone trying to enter her home near Huntingdon Pike around 2:00 am. The intruder was scared away, and around 4:00 am a resident near Welsh Rd heard someone enter her home, who e said, “the door is unlocked.” The subject was scared away and fled with at least two other white males in a dark colored SUV.

The Abington Police Department (APD) is making this investigation a top priority. Extra patrols will be out, and detectives will  track down every lead. Police ask residents to locking doors and windows, which can greatly reduce the risk of becoming a victim of these types of crimes.

The APD asks residents to call 911 if they observe any suspicious activity, vehicle or persons in the neighborhood, especially during the overnight hours. Officers will be sent to the area to investigate all calls. Anyone with information related to the investigation should contact Detective Steve Henze at 267-536-1110 or Detective Sgt. Greg Urban at 267-536-1095.
