Graduating seniors/volunteer firefighters receive David G. Kelble, Jr. Scholarship Award

Kayla Sweeney, a graduating senior at Germantown Academy High School in Fort Washington (pictured above), Kenny McKenzie, a graduating senior at Abington High School, and Tom Hasty, a graduating senior at Springfield Township High School, have each been awarded the David G. Kelble, Jr. Scholarship Award on behalf of the non-profit Helmets off 4 David.

The award is giving annually to a graduating GA student in memory of David G. Kelble, Jr., a 1998 graduate of Abington High School and an Abington Township Fire Department volunteer.

Sweeney is a volunteer at the Wyndmoor Fire Department and the Whitemarsh Police Department. McKenzie is a volunteer at Abington Fire Company and Second Alarmer’s Association and Rescue Squad of Montgomery County, and Hasty is a volunteer with the Flourtown Fire Company.
