The Glenside & Wyncote Walking Club will debut at 9:00am on Sunday, December 1.
Victoria Kraus, a Los Angeles native who moved to Glenside in June, thought it would be a nice way for people to connect with their neighbors.
“The feedback has been great,” she said. “I was surprised at how quickly people responded to my post.”
Kraus had been staying in the Lansdale area since roughly January, “but I’m born and raised in LA. I really needed a change and a big shift,” she said. “I always wanted to live on the east coast.”
She’s mastered the no-car lifestyle and relies on public transportation, a bike, and her own two feet to get around town.
“I don’t drive. I walk and bike and take the train and bus everywhere. It’s really hard to get around LA without a car, but somehow I managed,” she said. “Glenside is nice because it’s so close to the city and public transportation. It feels walkable and it’s so nice to see all the curvy streets and beautiful trees. It’s quintessential America, like something you’d see on television.”
The walking route for Sunday can be found below. Kraus said she hopes the organized walks to become a monthly activity. More to come.
