Shakim Elias, 18, of Flourtown, was held for trial after he waived his preliminary hearing on charges of homicide by vehicle in connection with a crash that killed 35-year-old Artemio De La Rosa Martinez of Norristown, Mainline Media News reported.
Other charges include: Accidents involving death or personal injury, failing to stop at the scene of a crash, failure to report a crash to police, reckless and careless driving, speeding, operating a vehicle without insurance and unsworn falsification to authorities.
Mendez remains in jail after he was unable to post $250,077 bail. He will face a pretrial hearing later this year, Mainline Media said.
Mendez returned to Montgomery County in February after being arrested in Wilmington, Delaware on February 20. The backstory is here.
