The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office announced that Shakim Elias, 18, of Flourtown, returned to Montgomery County yesterday to face Homicide by Vehicle charges after being arrested in Wilmington, Delaware on February 20.

Mendez was involved in the November 8, 2024 crash that killed 35-year-old Artemio De La Rosa Martinez of Norristown as he was doing landscaping work with his brother along the roadway. The backstory is here.

He was arraigned with bail set at $50,077 cash and remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility. A preliminary is scheduled for 11:00am on March 12, officials said.
