Jordan Jones, 31, a Horsham resident and former school resource officer at Abington High School who was accused of institutional sexual assault, endangering the welfare of children and corruption of minors in February 2024, was sentenced on Tuesday to 11.5 to 23 months in jail on charges of institutional sexual assault and attempted institutional sexual assault, Mainline Media News reported today.
Assistant District Attorney Lauren Marvel sought the maximum county jail term against Jones, Mainline Media said.
“This case was unique in that the defendant’s actions didn’t just impact the victims, but also the entire community because the defendant was a police officer and a school resource officer where his job was to protect kids. He lost the trust of the entire community of Abington High School and of the police department and of the public. His actions were a disgrace and had an effect on the entire community,” Montgomery County Assistant District Attorney Margot Weitz said during the sentencing hearing.
Chris Porter, deputy chief of the Abington Police Department, said that Jones “was entrusted with one of the most sacred responsibilities that a police officer can have, protecting our children. It is difficult to put into words the ripple effect of harm that this betrayal has caused.”
Jones pleaded guilty in October 2024 to having sexual relations with a 17-year-old female student on five or more occasions. He also admitted to a charge of attempted institutional sexual assault with a second female student when she was between the ages of 18 and 19 during the 2022-23 school year.
News of the second victim came out in September. Jones allegedly told the female student “he wanted her to cook for him in his kitchen while she was naked,” and explained “what sexual acts he wanted to perform with her,” according to court papers.
In May, Abington School District superintendent Dr. Jeffrey Fecher sent a letter to the community announcing that five new charges were filed against Jones involving additional counts of criminal attempted sexual intercourse with a former Abington Senior High School student during their enrollment.
