Abington School District announces new charges filed against former Abington Police Officer, School Resource Officer Jordan Jones

Abington School District superintendent Dr. Jeffrey Fecher sent a letter today to the community announcing that new charges have been filed against former Abington Township Police Officer and School Resource Officer Jordan Jones.

According to the letter, Jones, 29, has been charged with additional counts of criminal attempted sexual intercourse with a former Abington Senior High School student during their enrollment.

As a reminder, we ask that if you have any information that could be relevant to the investigation to please call Montgomery County Detective Walt Kerr at 610-278-3036, or Abington Detective Sergeant Troy Hummel at 267-536-1111. We recognize that this news could renew feelings of disappointment, concern, anger, stress and/or anxiety among the members of our school community, including students, staff, or families. We encourage you to seek help, or to direct someone you know who needs help, by contacting a school counselor or another member of our Student Services Department at 215-881-2552.

On February 13, Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele announced Jones’ arrest on felony charges of institutional sexual assault, endangering the welfare of children and corruption of minors. He was immediately placed on administrative leave with intent to dismiss per protocol.
