Elkins Park Resident Recognized By The Philadelphia Eagles And Santander Bank

Santander Bank and the Philadelphia Eagles jointly honored Mr. David Norton of Elkins Park as a “Santander Community Quarterback” on Sunday, December 23rd.

“Mr. David Norton…was recognized for his notable work in the community at Sunday’s Eagles game as an honoree in the second annual ‘Santander Community Quarterback’ program,” according to a statement issued by both businesses.  “Santander Bank and the Philadelphia Eagles have once again teamed up to honor exceptional individuals who exemplify leadership, dedication and commitment to improving the communities where they live.  Throughout the season, 10 deserving winners were selected by a panel of judges comprised of Santander [Bank] and Eagles representatives.”

Santander Bank and the Philadelphia Eagles provided some details on the service to the community provided by Mr. Norton:

“After a tragic incident left his three nephews orphaned, Mr. David Norton, a tow truck operator, recognized that many children go without gifts during the holiday season.  To help serve his community, David created the Tow 4 Tots program and now annually leads hundreds of drivers from the Philadelphia area and beyond in delivering toys to children in need during the holiday season.  Tow 4 Tots was started more than 10 years ago and continues to donate toys that are purchased by the drivers themselves.  The drivers deliver gifts to the Youth Service Incorporated headquarters, a location selected by Norton’s nephews, who once turned to this center when they were orphans.”

According to the joint statement from the two businesses, “Mr. Norton received $500 for the local nonprofit organization of his choice and a VIP experience at the Eagles home game versus the Houston Texans, which included the chance to watch the game in the Santander Field Club, located in the end zone at Lincoln Financial Field.”

Mr. Norton was one of ten individuals honored as a “Santander Community Quarterback” in 2018.

Santander Bank and the Philadelphia Eagles will announce a grand prize winner among those ten individuals in January, 2019.  “The grand prize winner will receive an additional $10,000 to donate to a local nonprofit of his or her choice,” according to the joint statement from the two businesses.
