Dr. Thomas A. Fitzpatrick, a 101-year-old Flourtown resident, WWII veteran, and former USDA biochemist, named honoree of this year’s Wissahickon Day Horse Show and Parade

Dr. Thomas A. Fitzpatrick, a 101-year-old World War II Veteran and resident of Flourtown, has been named this year’s honoree of the Wissahickon Day Horse Show and Parade which takes place on Sunday, April 26, The Reporter said.

According to their coverage, Dr. Fitzpatrick was five years old when he watched his first parade in 1929. Now retired, he worked for 40 years as a biochemist in the laboratory at the United States Department of Agriculture in Wyndmoor. You can read his biography here.

“The parade is rich in history and when I share the tale of how Forbidden Drive got its name, people light up when they hear the story,” he told The Reporter.
