Montgomery County will soon see several new pickleball complexes courtesy of the Maryland-based “pickleball haven” Dill Dinkers, the Philadelphia Business Journal reported last week.
According to the Journal, the company plans to open 14 total pickleball complexes in Chester and Montgomery counties. Andy Wakefield and his son Andrew, the developers, are scouting locations of approximately 15,000 sf or larger and are in the initial stages with potential franchisees.
The company is charging an initial franchise fee of $50,000 and a continuing royalty of 8% of sales. The total required investment for opening a Dill Dinkers is between $325,000 and $765,000.
Regional developers pay an undisclosed fee for an exclusive territory in which they can develop their own indoor pickleball centers and sell franchises, the Journal said.
Earlier this month, FOX5 provided video coverage of the forthcoming facilities:
Dill Dinkers was founded in 2022 and currently has four locations in Maryland and one in Virginia. The brand has signed developers in Texas, Washington, D.C., North Carolina, Connecticut, South Carolina, Arizona, and Western Maryland for a total of 94 locations.
