Demolition of West Moreland Ave. bridge in Upper Moreland/Hatboro to begin Jan. 2026, full detour planned until Dec. 2027

Hatboro officials announced that demolition for the West Moreland Avenue bridge project is expected to begin in January 2026, at which time a full detour will be implemented.

The bridge passes over the Pennypack Creek and is located on West Moreland Avenue between Flamingo Road (Upper Moreland) and Broad Street (Hatboro).

According to the notice, detour signs should be placed in the area soon, and a segment of the roadway will be closed when demolition begins. The project is expected to be completed by December 2027, according to a county notice.

Construction equipment and trailers will be stored at Eaton Park during the project. Eaton Park will also still be available for visitors, officials said.
