Cheltenham track standout wins state title, sets new school records | Cheltenham Education Foundation to host 2nd annual Race For Education on April 26

Amirah Nesmith, a junior member of Cheltenham High School’s track and field team, won the state title in the 60M dash at the Pennsylvania Track and Field Coaches Association state championships at State College on Sunday, February 2.

Nesmith ran a school record 7.4 seconds and was runner up in the 200M dash, running a school record 23.88 seconds. Her time was just one one-hundredth off the winning time in the 200. Last month, she broke two school records and won two gold medals at the Ocean Breeze Invitational (Staten Island, NY). In 2024, Nesmith won the PIAA Class 3A 100-meter title.

Nesmith also competed in the long jump on Sunday and finished fourth with a leap of 18-5.


The 4x200M relay of Jadesola Turton, Kendall Nelson, Amira Banks, and Emma Ravenell and alternates Willa Chaney and Noriana Huynh finished 18th. Overall, the Panthers finished third with 23 points.

The Panthers close out their season with the national championships in New York in two weeks.
