Cheltenham Township has released their lineup of monthly events in celebration of America 250, the nation’s semiquincentennial year.
The township encourages participants to collect commemorative coins made for each event, collectible for display in a special Cheltenham Celebrates America 250 “passport” coinbook.
The events will be:
- January 23: Celebrating Architecture, All Hallows Church
- February 7 and/or 21: Celebrating Park History, 2/7 at Curtis Hall, 2/21 at Elkins Central
- March 8: Founders Day, Elkins Estate
- April: Temple Judea Art Exhibit, opening reception 4/3, but on display all month
- May 22: Memorial Day Observance, Veteran’s Field
- June 13: Summer Kickoff Party, Lynnewood Hall
- July 3: “House of Declaration” reading of the Declaration of Independence, Wall House
- July 4: East Cheltenham and Glenside 4th of July parades
- August 30: Battle of the Breweries, Gimbel Field
- September 19: Camp William Penn Day, Historic La Mott
- October 18: Community Fair & Open House, Wall House
- November 11: Veterans Day Service Project and Lunch, Glenside Hall
- December 12: Holiday Concert and Closing Ceremony, Elkins Park Business District/High School Park
