Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele and Hatboro Police Chief Mark Ruegg announced today the arrest of Dennis Reilly, 76, of Hatboro, for soliciting sexual acts from a 15-year-old girl.
According to the DA’s announcement, Hatboro police received a report of a “concerning interaction” between a juvenile and an adult male on February 26. Officials were told that a girl was walking her dog with her younger sister when a male, later identified as Reilly, approached the girls and offered them $100 each for photographs of their feet.
Following the encounter, the girl received multiple texts from the male, asking for more photographs of her feet, DA Steele said. A Hatboro detective reviewed the text exchanges between Reilly and the girl, then took over the cellphone and began communicating with Reilly, acting as the teenage girl.
In the texts, Reilly asked to meet the girl for sexual activities in exchange for $300 and agreed to meet the girl at the South York Road Wawa in Hatboro at a set time. Reilly said they would then drive to his residence for sex, adding that he would use a “rubber.” When Reilly arrived at the Wawa on February 26, he was met and interviewed by Hatboro police, who seized his cellphone.
Reilly was arrested on February 27 and arraigned on charges of Trafficking in Individuals–Recruit/Entice/Solicit, Unlawful Contact With a Minor, Criminal Solicitation–Statutory Sexual Assault, Criminal Use of a Communications Facility and multiple related charges.
He was remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility. Bail was set at $99,000 cash. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11:00am on March 12.
If anyone else has had an encounter of a similar nature with Reilly, you are asked to call Hatboro police at 215-675-2832.
