Cheltenham to host annual Community Festival at the Richard Wall House on Oct. 19

The Cheltenham Township Historical Commission (CTHC) will host its annual Community Festival on Sunday, October 19, from 1:00pm – 4:00pm at the Richard Wall House (1 Wall Park Dr., Elkins Park).

Timothy Esposito of the CTHC sent Glenside Local the following:

The event is designed to represent what it means to live in our township of Cheltenham: community groups, arts and culture, civic pride, and a sense of our past. Centered on the historic Richard Wall House Museum, the community fair embodies the best of what makes Cheltenham, Montgomery County, and the general Philadelphia area unique.

Who will be attending this year? They have about 40 community and historical groups signed up to host tables. These include a special guest, George Washington! He looks good for being over 200. He’s bringing his friends Abigail Adams and maybe even Martha Washington. Additionally, not one but two blacksmiths will be in attendance. Bob Herrmann is returning and this year we are welcoming a newcomer, The Hebrew Hammer. The Old York Road Garden Club will present their award-winning herb garden. Gilded age estates like Lynnewood Hall and Cairnwood and Glencairn will showcase their magical sites. Additionally, there will be over a dozen civic organizations present enabling you to learn about what’s going on in your community. These groups range from the Friends of (Various) Parks, to governmental representatives; from the library system to environmental groups. Come out to the event and learn about what your community has to offer, and perhaps what you have to offer ot your community.
