Cheltenham School District Senior awarded three college scholarships

Cheltenham High School Senior Joelle Williams has received three college scholarships toward her tuition at Harvard University where she plans to study human developmental regenerative biology on a pre-med track. The three scholarships are: the Patriot Equities Scholarship, Gates Scholarship, and Ron Brown Scholarship.

Williams will receive the Patriot Equities scholarship annually and is a $5,000 award, renewable up to four years ($20,000 award).

The Gates Scholarship is a selective scholarship for outstanding minority high school seniors. 300 students receive it out of a pool of 35,000.

The Ron Brown Scholarship awards $40,000, over the span of four years ($10,000 each year). Up to 50 students receive this scholarship each year.

Williams is the president of the senior class and the Spanish Honors Society. She is the vice president of the Women in Science Club. She was accepted into 20 schools, including six in the Ivy League.
