The Cheltenham Township Police Department has announced the passing of K9 Tychus, who was partnered with Officer Chad Smith (shown above) and had served the community since 2014.
He passed away on Saturday, December 9, the Department said in a Facebook post.
The post continued:
Tychus contributions to our department were immeasurable, playing a vital role in numerous operations that ensured the safety and security of our department & the community. His skills in detection, tracking, and protection were unparalleled, and he carried out each duty with extraordinary intelligence and loyalty. Beyond his professional excellence, Tychus was a cherished member of our police family as well as Officer Smith’s family. His passing leaves a void that will be deeply felt by all of us.
As we mourn the loss of Tychus, let us also celebrate his life and the positive impact he made in our community. His legacy will continue to inspire us in our mission to serve and protect. Thank you for taking care of Officer Smith and the rest of our brothers and sisters. Rest well Tychus, we’ll take it from here.
