Cheltenham grad, first-ever Chief Operating Officer helps LinkedIn surpass $15B

LinkedIn, a business and employment-focused social media platform, celebrated its 20th anniversary this year, and Dan Shapero, a 1996 Cheltenham High School graduate, celebrated his second year of serving the company as its first-ever Chief Operating Officer.

Shapero’s role includes overseeing global sales, operations, as well as member and customer success. Under his leadership, LinkedIn’s revenue has surpassed $15 billion for the first time this fiscal year and membership growth has now accelerated for eight quarters in a row.

Since joining LinkedIn in 2008, he has held various leadership roles managing global teams across sales and product management, most recently as Chief Business Officer.

Shapero holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BS in Applied Mathematics from Johns Hopkins University.

According to local historian Chuck Langerman, Shapero was named an All-Suburban One first-team soccer goalkeeper and a first-team football placekicker for the Panthers during the 1995 fall season. At the time, the only other two Cheltenham athletes to make All-Suburban One first-team in both soccer and football were 1974 graduate David Tulsky and 1977 grad Bill Talley.
