Rebecca Schultz, a Cheltenham Township resident and artist, was featured last month by GridPhilly.com for her yearslong art project, “Mapping Our Watershed”.
The multimedia project was completed in 2023 and used tree bark rubbings, monotypes, soil-water watercolors, leaf prints, drawings and other media to construct a map of Cheltenham and the Tacony watershed.
More than 60 people contributed 90 pieces toward the final product, which was displayed in the Elkins Park SEPTA station and Fairmount Water Works.

Schultz is also a member of Cheltenham’s Environmental Advisory Council, a Streamkeepe for the Tookany/Tacony-Frankford watershed, and an active member of the Cheltenham Center for the Arts.
From her website:
Mapping Our Watershed is a participatory art and community science project that aimed to connect residents with the complex ecology of the Tookany/Tacony-Frankford Watershed in Cheltenham Township, Pennsylvania. Mapping is about creating a visual representation of a place; it is also a process of documenting the relationships and experiences of that place. Local residents mapped their experience of the watershed by learning about its interdependent elements and translating their impressions of those elements into art.
