Nicole Moore has been operating #CheerBoss LLC of Glenside since May 2023.
A mother and a high school/youth cheer coach for 20+ years, Moore wanted to build a safe place for kids to gain confidence and progress their skills.
“The cheer community is a very high-pressure sport, and I wanted kids to be exposed to a staff of experienced coaches to help them along their journey,” Moore, an Ambler resident, said. “We try to be as upbeat and positive as possible when you come through the door.”
#CheerBoss started in a nearby park as an “Intro to Cheerleading” class. The project has since grown to weekly tumbling classes, three cheer teams, and regular community gestures. Kids come from Philly, Bucks, and Chester to take part.
“They come to work with us because of that upbeat vibe. Our tumbling classes are for beginners looking for a low-pressure commitment. We host regular events around town, we invite vendors to our space, we do clothing drives and fundraisers, with more to come,” she said.
In November 2023, #CheerBoss found a permanent home at 2851 Limekiln Pike in Glenside. Since then, Moore has been enhancing her program (which includes birthday parties), working with local cheer programs, and meeting families in the community.
The company now has 34 coaches, all of whom are USA Cheer certified, and many of whom travel nationwide for team trainings. Moore said they’re always looking to build on their staffing to keep up with demand.
“It’s really taken off. We’ve gone as far Delaware, New Jersey, western Pennsylvania, and New York. We’re looking to travel across the country with our girls,” Moore said. “We love to be able to bring something different to Glenside. We invest in our families for the full length of their journey so that they’re set up for success. Our Glenside classes are community focused. It’s come a long way.”
The cheerleading season runs from August through March, and a half-season from January to April. #CheerBoss is sponsoring PIAA’s Competitive Spirit Championship in January for all of Pennsylvania’s high school cheerleading teams. Moore expects to launch a commercial about the event soon.
“I want parents to know that a lot of kids who’ve been through trauma are thriving in our environment. We hear from parents that the kids are able to be a kid with us. I love hearing that,” Moore said.
This summer, Moore’s company participated in NBC10’s Adopt a Child feature, and was named among Montgomery County’s Happening List Hall of Fame in September in the Children’s Gym and Sport Area category.
“We did a whole mini-clinic with Destiny to get her out there for adoption,” she said.
Coming up, #CheerBoss is hosting a Designer Bag Bingo event on Saturday, November 16 at 6:00pm at Wissahickon Fire Company in Ambler.
