Cheltenham Township’s September 14 Zoning Hearing Board agenda includes a request for the development of a car wash at 2727 Cheltenham Avenue, the former location of a Walgreens.

The application, submitted by Spotless Brands LLC, also calls for vacuum stations and a drive-through corridor. Multiple variances were requested.

Lauren Walter, the township’s public information officer, told Glenside Local that the Zoning Hearing Board approved the requested relief, and that a written decision is expected in 30-45 days.

No expected timeframe for the project’s land development approval process was submitted to township officials, Walter said.

The Walgreens permanently closed in May 2025. It was the first stop on Commissioner Dwight Pedro Lewis’ “blight tour” with Glenside Local in September 2025.

According to the property’s listing on Loopnet.com, the 14,335 sf retail space is still up for lease.
