Ben Bergman, Jenkintown Night Market’s lead manager, and his business partner Jon Glyn of Evergreen Events will soon be hosting the South & Passyunk Farmers Market at South Street and Passyunk Avenue in Philadelphia.
The markets, which kick off June 1, will be held on Thursdays 3:0pm – 7:00pm from June through October, and will feature local farmers’ fresh produce, artists, musicians and other festivities.
“One of the things we love about farmers markets is it gives the public a chance to actually meet the farmer that grew what they are eating,” Bergman, who previously owned his own farmers market company Greener Pastures, told South Philly Review. “And that’s always a benefit. People always really dig that.”
Another Bergman-Glyn market at Schuylkill River Park is set to begin on Sundays from 10:00am to 2:00pm. Bergman and Glyn teamed up to launch the Jenkintown Holiday Market this past winter.
In related news, the Jenkintown Night Market and the Hiway Theater are partnering on Sunday, May 21 to preview the market’s vendors and watch the 2018 film Before the Plate.
The event is scheduled to begin at 6:30pm at the Hiway Theater, 212 Old York Road, where guests can mingle in the lobby and sample products offered by vendors from the Jenkintown Night Market.
The movie begins at 7:30pm, after which there will be a panel discussion and a Q&A session about the importance of locally grown and produced food. For more details, you can visit the Facebook event page.
