For Fademan, barbering is not just about cutting hair. It’s about precision, professionalism, and presentation. “A proper haircut isn’t just sitting in a busy shop for 10 minutes and getting tossed out the chair like Jazzy Jeff,” Fademan said. “A precision cut is a statement about how you carry yourself. Fademan’s passion for barbering didn’t start in a private barbershop. It began in his parents’ basement as a teenager. “My wonderful mother used to cut our hair and she taught me how to cut hair,” he recalled. “Without her, I wouldn’t have become a barber.”

Fademan sharpened his skills during high school and college. After graduating college, he enrolled at the now-defunct Tri-City Barber School.

“Tri-City used to sit on the corner of Broad and Nedro in Philly,” he said. “Many of Philly’s top barbers came through Tri-City and I wanted to learn the game from the best of the best.”

He earned his barber license in 2008 and went on to cut in local shops until 2012, all while building his fitness business and what would eventually become The Fitman Performance & Physique Center. By 2014, Fademan shifted full-time into Fitman. He paused his public barbering career to establish his gym.

“If you chase two rabbits, you won’t catch either of them,” he said. “I never stopped cutting hair. But in order to build the gym I had to put barbering on the bench for a while.”
