Guest of Penbryn Pool in Abington reportedly threatens staff with firearm. Situation contained, investigation underway

The Abington Township Police Department announced today that an incident reportedly involving a firearm occurred at Penbryn Pool (200 Houston Avenue, Glenside) on the afternoon of Sunday, August 17.

According to an initial report, a guest displayed a firearm and threatened staff. The situation was quickly contained and the pool was then closed, police said.

“We want to assure our community that this was an isolated incident, and there is no ongoing threat,” the department said in a post. “Our officers are actively investigating, and we will provide an update as soon as more information is available.”

Abington Township officials posted that Penbryn Pool will resume normal hours on Monday, August 18.
