Abington’s Benjamin Cossrow wins National Merit Scholarship, chosen from a nationwide pool of 15,000

Today the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) released the names of the first round of winners in the 68th annual National Merit Scholarship Program, and Abington Senior High School’s Benjamin Cossrow is among them.

Cossrow’s National Merit Bowdin College Scholarship awards between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years. He is one of 7,140 Merit Scholar designees and was chosen from a pool of more than 15,000 finalists.

Cossrow was one of seven Abington students to be named finalists in September. Anna W. Cleary, Romina Farzaneh, Kaileb H. Kim, Robert S. Lowery, Audrey H. Moore, and Jeremy T. Slotter also received PSAT scores among the highest in the the state, which qualified them for the chance to become National Merit Scholars.

The second round of winners of college-sponsored Merit Scholarship awards will be announced on July 10. The criteria for selection is below:
