The Abington Senior High School football team will not play Cheltenham High School during the 2025 season.
Allie Artur, Abington’s communications coordinator, told Glenside Local that the district has a two-year agreement with Conrad Weiser, and that the rest of the schedule is organized by the Suburban One League. Charles Grasty, Abington’s athletic director, did not reply to a request for comment.
In 2024, Abington School District opted to pause the long-standing football game, which dates back to 1915 and has been played 104 times. Abington leads the series, 61-37-6.
Mr. Grasty responded via email in April 2024 that “The Abington vs Cheltenham football game is on a temporary pause and will be revisited in the near future.”
Kevin Kaufman, Cheltenham’s director of communications, wrote in an email that “We received a communication from Abington stating they would like to take a hiatus.”
