Home healthcare worked arrested after elderly woman from Abington Township reported multiple acts of fraud

A home healthcare worker was arrested after a 94-year-old woman from Abington Township reported to police that she had been the victim of fraud, NBC10 reported today.

According to their coverage, Emontrea Lewis, 30, a former healthcare worker from Philadelphia, is charged with conspiracy, forgery, unauthorized act in writing, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and access device issued to another who did not authorize use.

The Abington Township woman reportedly hired Lewis to take care of her disabled daughter, NBC10 said.

The investigation began on November 8, 2025, when the woman told police her credit card and checkbooks had been stolen. Officials learned that Lewis had made several unauthorized purchases totaling $647.08, and that 12 of her stolen checks totaling $6300 had been cashed without her permission.
