Update: Found | 77-year-old man from Wyncote has been reported missing, Cheltenham police say

Update: Cheltenham police announced at 9:16am on Thursday that Mr. Mercer has been located.

The Cheltenham Township Police Department announced late Wednesday evening that an active search is underway for William Mercer, 77, of Wyncote, who reportedly left his home on foot at approximately 3:00pm today.

“Mercer is familiar with SEPTA, and may be in the area of Washington Ln. & Stenton Ave., or 61st St & Market St., in the City of Philadelphia, two locations where he used to live,” police said.

Mercer has been described as 5’6” tall, weighing approximately 185 pounds, with black and grey hair and brown eyes. Police said he was wearing a black baseball cap with a Marine Corps logo on the front, a gray hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, and tan slippers.

Anyone with additional information is encouraged to call 9-1-1.
