Abington Township to hold public hearing for proposed life care facility and nursing home on March 7

The Abington Township Board of Commissioners will resume a public hearing regarding the proposed life care facility and nursing home at 1209 Rydal Road on Saturday, March 7, at 9:30am at the Abington Township Municipal Building.

According to the township’s notice, the board will take action on Willow Grove-based Chaverim Realty Partners, LLC’s application requesting Conditional Use approval pursuant to Section 301 of the Abington Township Zoning Ordinance to permit Use E-10: Life Care Facility (Continuing Care) and Use E-12: Nursing Home in the R-1 Low-Density Residential Zoning District.

Chaverim Realty Partners, LLC purchased the property in 2019 for $600,000. The 7.79-acre, 5,000 sq estate has five bedrooms, 5 full/3 half bathrooms, and 24 parking spaces. 

Township officials held a Conditional Use Hearing in June 2023, a public hearing in January 2024, and another public hearing in July 2025, among other hearings regarding the property’s plans.

A Zoom webinar option is available and will provide the ability to view and hear the proceedings. Should anyone wish to participate in the proceedings, including to present evidence or give public comment, they must attend in-person. No comments will be taken from those attending on Zoom. There will be no video interaction capabilities or ability to speak. Residents, who are unable to join by computer, can listen to the meeting by calling 1-929-436-2866 and entering the meeting ID number 849 5228 8638 when prompted.
