Abington Township shares Comprehensive Recreation, Park, and Open Space Plan, meeting scheduled for Monday

Abington Township recently shared their Comprehensive Recreation, Park, and Open Space Plan which began in August 2022 and will be concluding in July 2023. 

A virtual meeting will be held on Monday, June 12, at 7:00pm to discuss Final Plan Revisions.

From the project’s description:

The project technical team will help residents to examine multiple uses of existing open space and recreation facilities within Abington Township, and to explore opportunities for new facility development; recreational trails options; and recreation programming that will meet current community needs and anticipated growth over the next 20-25 years. 

The Comprehensive Recreation, Park, and Open Space Plan and associated process shall include the following components as outlined and described on pages 2 through 9 of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Department of Conservation and Natural Resource’s COMPREHENSIVE RECREATION, PARK, AND OPEN SPACE Guidelines and Example Scope of Work found in Appendix A:

A narrative report with all supporting documents and information included as an appendix:

  • Executive Summary – Briefly describe the process, priorities, and final recommendations.
  • Purpose, Goals, and Objectives
  • Public Participation
  • Background Information
  • Agency Mission Statement, Goals, and Objectives
  • Agency Administration
  • Agency Personnel
  • Facilities and Open Space Inventory and Analysis
  • Facilities and Equipment Maintenance
  • Recreation Programs and Services
  • Financing
  • Recommendations and Cost Estimates
  • Plan Implementation”
