Abington Township recently received $200,000 from the state of Pennsylvania for its Emergency Repairs Program, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported.
The new money came from the state’s affordable housing program, The Inquirer said.
The program, also known as the Owner-Occupied Housing Rehabilitation Program, “was created by the Township to provide funds to assist income-eligible owner-occupied single-family homes in correcting existing substandard health, safety, and building code conditions in conformity with the standards of the Township’s Code of Standards, as well as the Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code and the Department of Housing and Urban Development Residential Rehabilitation Inspection Guide”, according to the township’s website.
Abington’s grants manager Kim Hamm told The Inquirer that the township previously spent down its emergency repair budget. She also said township officials are drafting a grants plan that would add another $140,000 to the program.
