Lily Devlin, a senior at Abington Senior High School and Eastern Center for Arts and Technology’s Design, Photography, and Illustration program, has been named the Pennsylvania Candidate for the CTE National Presidential Scholar program by the White House Commission of Presidential Scholars and the PA Department of Education.
From a pool of 600 nationwide finalists, the White House Commission will choose 161 students for the recognition, the Willow Grove-based school said. She will be acknowledged during the Pennsylvania Association of Career and Technical Administrators conference at the Hershey Lodge on February 8.
Devlin is the only Career and Technical candidate selected to represent Pennsylvania. She is a member of the National Honor Society, AbingTHON, and Eastern’s Occupational Advisory Committee.
“I felt honored to be nominated, but it was truly surprising and humbling to learn that I was chosen to move forward,” Devlin said. “This is incredibly exciting, and my family is tremendously proud. It’s truly a remarkable moment for me.”
“We are so thrilled for Lily,” Dr. Plesnarski, Eastern’s Executive Director/PACTA Eastern Region President, said. “She is an outstanding student with drive, determination, and work ethic. She is a leader in the DPI program and an outstanding example of what career and technical students can achieve.”
