Adult accused of having sexual contact with a Cheltenham High School student on school grounds, superintendent says

Dr. Brian W. Scriven, superintendent of the Cheltenham School District, issued a letter to families regarding an unauthorized 21-year-old who allegedly entered the high school after hours and engaged in sexual contact with a student in a stairwell, NBC10 reported.

According to the letter, the incident happened on April 29. School officials reviewed security footage and filed a Serious Incident Report, contacted Childline, and notified the Cheltenham Township Police Department.

The student was disciplined and the 21-year-old was arrested and charged with “unauthorized entry and illegal sexual contact with a juvenile inside the school”, NBC10 said.

“While it’s unfortunate that this incident occurred, we are reassured that our recently updated building safety protocol prompted administration to respond in a timely manner,” Dr. Scriven wrote.

Cheltenham police are investigating the incident. Additional details have not been provided.

The news follows last week’s announcement from Abington School District which resulted in a 25-year-old male being charged with raping an Abington Senior High School student in her home.
