Abington Senior High School’s state champion boys’ soccer team recognized by Speaker of the House during Harrisburg visit

Representative Ben Sanchez shared photos and a tribute on behalf of the Abington Senior High School boys’ soccer team’s visit to Harrisburg, during which they were recognized by Speaker of the House McClinton for winning the state championship in the fall.

The team was joined by superintendent Dr. Jeffrey Fecher, principal Dr. Alice Swift, principal, athletic director Charles Grasty, and head coach Randy Garber, who was named the 2025 W. Gene Davis Memorial Award as Coach of the Year in December. Shortly after being crowned state champs, Coach Garber announced his retirement after 32 years as head of the program.

From Representative Sanchez’s post:

I was proud to present them each with citations honoring their huge accomplishment and was glad to be able to honor Coach Garber in person for his years of commitment to this team before his retirement from coaching.

Congratulations again on this historic win for the school district and go Ghosts!

The state championship marked Abington High School’s third across all sports. Boys’ lacrosse won a state title 41 years ago, and the boys’ basketball team won a title in 1974.
