Abington schools superintendent Dr. Jeffrey Fecher announced the district’s snow day procedures for the 2022-23 school year.
The district built three “traditional” snow days into this year’s calendar, such that the first three school closures would be observed as a “traditional” snow day for students.
Abington schools are eligible for Flexible Instruction Days (FIDs), which will be used to cover up to to five additional days of inclement weather. Students will learn virtually to avoid making up instructional days at the end of the year.
Fecher also noted that Abington schools make announcements regarding inclement weather using:
- The District website and social media channels
- An automated phone system and (for those who subscribe) an automated text messaging system
- Local broadcast stations and their respective websites
- The District cable channel (Verizon Fios 34 and Comcast 968
