The Abington Township Police Department announced today the arrest of Angel Ortiz, 23, for assaulting a 14-year-old female victim at the Willow Grove Park Mall on Wednesday.

According to today’s report, the victim sustained multiple lacerations from a knife and was transported to Jefferson Abington Hospital where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers located Ortiz in the 2500 block of Moreland Road and took him into custody. He is charged with Aggravated Assault and related offenses and was transported to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility to await arraignment, police said.

“The investigation determined that the victim and suspect were not known to each other prior to this incident,” the report said. “The encounter began as a verbal altercation before escalating into the assault.”
